  1. Originally the movie was supposed to be called The Water Planet written by Stanford Sherman who had written Krull with a more serious tone and a budget of $20 million.

  2. MGM who financed the film was having financial difficulties at the time, slashed the budget to $8 million and brought on Stewart Raffill to turn the movie into a comedy.

  3. Director Stewart Raffill stated he felt the production was a fiasco because there was a change of studio heads in the middle of filming and more money was taken away from the budget but he states he managed to finish it.

  4. Kevin Costner originally turned down the role of Jason.

  5. The theatrical trailer gave a major spoiler by showing the final shot of Earth which is the

    missing 7th World in the film.
